Glass Fusion Workshop [FULL]

Try your hand at the art of fused glass! In this beginner-friendly art workshop led by local glass artist Debbie Hungle, participants will get to create a nature-inspired glass design using cut pieces of glass and mosaic techniques. Choose from a wide selection of bases -- from birds to insects to plants and more -- to create your ornament, coaster, paperweight, or glass display piece.

Frosty Forest: Winter Plant Walk

Join us for this wintery forest walk, where participants will learn about various species of ferns, evergreen trees, and other resilient plants that thrive in winter conditions, and how to identify them. We will delve into the fascinating adaptations these species have developed to survive snow, frost, and relatively limited sunlight. Discover the hidden ecosystems that flourish beneath a blanket of snow, and gain insight into the crucial roles these plants play in forest ecology!

From the charismatic great horned owl, to the ubiquitous barred owl, to the elusive and petite northern saw-whet owl, there are many nocturnal hunters to learn about in their peak activity! Join us to experience the breeding season activity and sounds of Stanley Park’s owls on this popular nighttime walk, as we try our luck to encounter these lively birds.

Senior Stroll: Winter Birds and Wildlife

Welcome senior participants! Join us for a slow-paced stroll around Lost Lagoon to admire the late winter birds and other wildlife in the nearby waters, trees, and shores. We'll turn our attention to the colourful ducks and lively hummingbirds, plus look out for recent beaver activity and whatever else we can find along the way. This is a beginner-friendly nature outing!

Winter to Spring: Watercolour Workshop

As the ecosystems of Stanley Park get ready for spring, so are we! Winter is beginning to wind down, and we’re looking ahead to longer days, glowing sunsets, and the first blooms of cherry blossom season. In this watercolour workshop, you’ll learn foundational techniques while creating two nature-inspired pieces: a sunset over water and delicate cherry blossoms. 

Spring EcoCamps: March 16-20

Stanley Park Ecology invites kids, ages 7 to 11 years old, to our EcoCamp. A curiosity-powered day camp for exploring everything around us – under tall trees, next to wiggling wetland creatures, and overlooking rocky shorelines. Camp days are a blend of outdoor adventures with indoor breaks, for a fun and safe week of diverse and inclusive activities in the heart of Stanley Park.
