Led by Melissa Hafting, this free birding program will introduce you to the winter residents of Blackie Spit in Surrey, keeping eyes and ears tuned to find a wide range of birds, such as wigeons, surf scoters, trumpeter swans, shore birds, and more! Get out in nature in the new year and spend time in community during this Birding with Me walk. This event welcomes BIPOC nature enjoyers of all skill levels, including complete beginner birders, as well as participants of all ages. No experience necessary, and participants will be able to borrow binoculars.
Join our World Waterfowl Day celebration with our drop-in Duck Talks at the Nature House! If you've visited the waters of Stanley Park this winter, you've likely noticed the hundreds (and sometimes thousands!) of charming waterfowl that have taken up residence for the cold season. Swing by the Nature House at 1:00, 2:00, or 3:00 pm for a drop-in duck presentation all about these diverse winter birds.
Welcome senior participants! Join us for a slow-paced stroll around Lost Lagoon to admire the late winter birds and other wildlife in the nearby waters, trees, and shores. We'll turn our attention to the colourful ducks and lively hummingbirds, plus look out for recent beaver activity and whatever else we can find along the way. This is a beginner-friendly nature outing!
