IN-PERSON WALK

Calling all young birders! Join us in Stanley Park alongside other families and experts for the “Christmas Bird Count”, Birds Canada’s popular annual winter bird survey event.  This event is for all children, no matter what you celebrate this time of year! After a quick introduction to bird identification where you’ll learn to tell your kinglets from kingfishers, we will split into groups and head to the forest and foreshore for a 45-minute bird counting adventure. All your hard work will be celebrated when we regroup to share findings. Check out the downloadable resources below to enhance your experience!

ABOUT CRITTER CLUB

Do you know any children captivated by creatures? Good news! In-person Critter Clubs will run on a monthly basis from November ‘til March. Our Critter Club online series is also a great place for kids to connect with each other and their local ecology. Our next online series will be in February. Stay tuned!

Critter Club offers young minds a place to grow their curiosity, meet other like-minded children, and have fun!

We gratefully acknowledge that the land on which we gather and help steward is the unceded and traditional territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation, and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Since time immemorial, Coast Salish peoples have lived reciprocally with the land, harvesting and cultivating foods and medicines and practicing ceremony. The abundance of these lands and waters, which enables us to live, work, and play here today, is a result of the past and on-going stewardship and advocacy of the Coast Salish peoples.
