Try your hand at the art of Ayacuchan embroidery in this beginner-friendly workshop with artist Valeria Valdeiglesias. This traditional technique comes from Ayacucho, located in Perú. Andean textile traditions date back as early as 3000 BC and have high cultural significance, as well as bold colours and outstanding beauty. This class will consist of understanding the stitches used for Ayacuchan embroidery and putting them to practice by embroidering one of their most used patterns: a highland flower. This design can then be turned into a patch or decoration. All skill levels welcome, no experience necessary! 

Please note: If the class ends before completing the project, videos can be shared as a reference. Participants will leave with their embroidered design, the backing fabric, extra thread, the embroidery needle, and a needle threader.
