Hummingbird and Pollinator Walk

Have you walked through the trails of Stanley Park and hear the squeaky, scratchy calls of the Anna’s hummingbird above? Or perhaps looked to admire native flowers and noticed the busy buzzing of pollinating bees? Between the activity in the summer air and the scent of sweet flowers wafting in the breeze, the world of pollination is vibrant and full of energy! Join SPE Educator Julia Taylor on a colourful nature outing to learn about the fascinating world of hummingbirds, bumblebees, and some of the the flowers they rely on. Participants can borrow binoculars as we keep our eyes and ears tuned to nearby pollinators nearby.

What’s that Tree?

Do you find yourself wandering through the Park and wondering about the tall trees that greet you? If you’re curious about learning some beginner tree identification, join SPE Educator Julia for a relaxed outing in Stanley Park! We’ll meet some common forest and urban trees and take a closer look at their bark, cones, leaves, and needles, all while enjoying the summer air in nature. Returning participants will learn some new trees on this walk.

Birds in Green Spaces: Beginner Bird Walk

Discover the incredible variety and lives of local birds and wildlife in our local greenspaces. Join a local bird educator for a relaxed introduction to birding for beginners. Learn to identify and appreciate seasonal bird species and participate in community science through apps like eBird, while witnessing the wildlife that call these restored local greenspaces home. No birding experience required, just bring your curiosity and take flight! Participants can borrow binoculars.
This no cost guided walk is presented in collaboration with the City of Vancouver.
