Birds of a Feather: Spring Arrivals

Get ready to spread your wings and join the flock for this month’s edition of Birds of a Feather! With the first spring flowers opening up, and the frosty days behind us, it’s time to witness the latest birds arriving for the new season. Our winter residents will be on their way to their summer breeding grounds, while other migrators will be making their way to the forests, shores, and waters, of Stanley Park for the warmer days to come. Join a local birder for a bird-filled morning with possible encounters with hummingbirds, warblers, swallows, and other birds active this season. No experience required, just bring your curiosity and take flight! Feel free to bring your own binoculars or borrow ours.

Winter to Spring: Watercolour Workshop

Winter is beginning to wind down, and we’re looking ahead to longer days, glowing sunsets, and the first blooms of cherry blossom season. In this watercolour workshop, you’ll learn foundational techniques while creating two nature-inspired pieces: a sunset over water and delicate cherry blossoms.

Wigeons and Waddles: Duck Walk

If you’ve been around the waters of Stanley Park, you’ve likely noticed the hundreds (and often thousands!) of wigeons gathered nearby. This time of year, many ducks and other water birds arrive to our region during the fall migration period, and it’s a great time to dive into birding and get to know these diverse and charming feathered friends. Join SPE Nature House Educator, avid birder, and photographer Frank Lin for a stroll around the nearby waters to appreciate the quacks and splashes of the autumn season.
