SUMMARY:Buzzing Native Bees
DESCRIPTION:Get Tickets\n Problems using the ticket form below? You can also get tickets here. \n SPES uses the Zeffy platform to process payments\, so your entire purchase goes to us. If you’d like to help Zeffy keep running its services\, you can choose to tip them. If you don’t want to\, choose “Other” in the drop-down menu and then enter $0. \n\n\n\n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nIN-PERSON PROGRAM \n\n\n\nWhen you think of a bee\, chances are you imagine the European honeybee. But what about our native pollinators? Here in BC\, we have over 400 species of native bees! It is unlikely that we will be interacting with bees to the point where there is risk of stinging\, but if you have a bee sting allergy please exercise caution. If you have any questions or input about accessibility\, please email publiced@stanleyparkecology.ca           \n\n\n\nThis program will meet at the Nature House on Lost Lagoon (underneath the viewing platform at Chilco and Alberni St) and proceed around Lost Lagoon Loop either towards Ceperley Meadow or towards the Rose Garden\, depending on the flowers!  \n\n\n\nTerms and Conditions  \n\n\n\n(1) Registration required - NO DROP-INS ARE ALLOWED.  Fees for this program are based on a sliding scale – reduced fees are available for those with financial barriers.  \n\n\n\n(2)  Cancellation policy  – We offer partial refunds for program fees up to 7 days before the program. A 20% administration fee applies. Cancellations with less than the required notice are non-refundable. We do not refund fees for late or missed programs. Please request a refund by emailing publiced@stanleyparkecology.ca. You may also choose to support our public education programming by donating your registration fee.  \n\n\n\n(3) Weather – Our tours typically run rain or shine. Rarely\, programs may be postponed or cancelled due extreme weather like high winds or extreme heat.  We will alert you by email if the program needs to be rescheduled. If the program cannot be rescheduled\, refunds will be offered with a 20% administration fee or you may choose to transfer your ticket to another program of the same value.   \n\n\n\n(4) Program Availability – Program full or you cannot attend this day or time?   Sign up here to be notified when the program runs in the future. We also have a monthly events newsletter that you can subscribe to here. \n\n\n\n            \n\n\n\nThe land on which we gather is the traditional\, ancestral\, and unceded territory of the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm)\, Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh)\, and Tsleil-Waututh (səlilwətaɬ) Peoples. Their stewardship and respect for this land has carried forward for thousands of years long before settlers named it “Stanley Park”.

SUMMARY:Mapping in Motion: Spatial Storytelling in Stanley Park
DESCRIPTION:Get Tickets\n Problems using the ticket form below? You can also get tickets here. \n SPES uses the Zeffy platform to process payments\, so your entire purchase goes to us. If you’d like to help Zeffy keep running its services\, you can choose to tip them. This program will delve into how various types of maps shape our understanding of the park and influence its physical landscape. You will gain insights into the history of the park through maps\, and how different applications of mapping have shaped this urban landscape. As we walk through the park\, we will create our own maps that tell stories about our experiences. The program is led by our Community Engagement Coordinator\, Chris Rothery. He has degrees in Environmental Studies\, and Landscape Architecture\, which both deal heavily with the use of maps in understanding and designing our environment.  \n\n\n\nPROGRAM DETAILS \n\n\n\nAccessibility notes: This program will start indoors while seated\, on the second floor which is unfortunately only accessible by stairs. We will then go outside to walk along trails at a moderate pace with moderate inclines on some uneven surfaces\, stopping to draw at various locations. If you have any questions or input about accessibility\, please email publiced@stanleyparkecology.ca     \n\n\n\nThis program will meet at the Stanley Park Pavilion at the Stanley Park Ecology Society office (610 Pipeline Rd) on the second floor in the Salmonberry Room.
