This program will delve into how various types of maps shape our understanding of the park and influence its physical landscape. You will gain insights into the history of the park through maps\, and how different applications of mapping have shaped this urban landscape. As we walk through the park\, we will create our own maps that tell stories about our experiences. The program is led by our Community Engagement Coordinator\, Chris Rothery. He has degrees in Environmental Studies\, and Landscape Architecture\, which both deal heavily with the use of maps in understanding and designing our environment.  \n\n\n\nPROGRAM DETAILS \n\n\n\nAccessibility notes: This program will start indoors while seated\, on the second floor which is unfortunately only accessible by stairs. We will then go outside to walk along trails at a moderate pace with moderate inclines on some uneven surfaces\, stopping to draw at various locations. If you have any questions or input about accessibility\, please email publiced@stanleyparkecology.ca     \n\n\n\nThis program will meet at the Stanley Park Pavilion at the Stanley Park Ecology Society office (610 Pipeline Rd) on the second floor in the Salmonberry Room. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to check-in. \n\n\n\nTerms and Conditions \n\n\n\n(1) Registration required - NO DROP-INS ARE ALLOWED.  Fees for this program are based on a sliding scale – reduced fees are available for those with financial barriers.  \n\n\n\n(2)  Cancellation policy  – We offer partial refunds for program fees up to 7 days before the program. Their stewardship and respect for this land has carried forward for thousands of years long before settlers named it “Stanley Park”.
