IN-PERSON PROGRAM

Explore your favourite neighbourhood with a twist! Join us for a walk through the West End to explore local stores where you can shop and eat sustainably while saving money. We will showcase zero waste and sustainable options in the West End/downtown. This is a ticketed volunteer-led event with all proceeds going to SPES and to participating stores and locations to pay for nominal expenses of the tour, ie. samples or products.

At each stop, we will have a brief snapshot of the why and how of the business to understand better how they are contributing to decreasing food/clothing/packaging waste. At each store, we will chat to the owner, sample products and explore the zero-waste options, for example how container drop-off works.

There will be snacks along the tour (included) and we will receive discount vouchers at various stores. Bring a reusable cup and one or more small refillable containers to sample soap or similar products.

The itinerary will be:

We gratefully acknowledge that the land on which we gather and help steward is the unceded and traditional territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation, and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Since time immemorial, Coast Salish peoples have lived reciprocally with the land, harvesting and cultivating foods and medicines and practicing ceremony. The abundance of these lands and waters, which enables us to live, work, and play here today, is a result of the past and on-going stewardship
