IN-PERSON PROGRAM
Join our “Your Observation Matters” Bird Walk Series, and meet our panelists in an outdoor setting!
Citizen Science observations can have profound impacts on bird conservation efforts locally, and around the globe.
Join us in Stanley Park to look for birds, and contribute to global data collection, with leaders in birding and citizen science.
Led by Scott Loarie, Executive Director of iNaturalist, this program will guide participants through finding birds in Stanley Park. Keep your eyes and ears sharp for hummingbirds, migratory warblers, colourful ducks, and more!
No experience necessary, and participants will be able to borrow binoculars. We reccommend downloading the iNaturalist app before the walk.
This Bird Walk is Associated with our Your Observation Matters: Citizen Science in Birding Panel. Register to attend the panel on May 2nd for a discount code that can be used on this event. The discount code will be automatically sent in your registration email.
LEADER BIO
Dr. Scott Loarie is the Executive Director at iNaturalist, and holds degrees in Biology and Environmental Science. At iNaturalist, Scott champions the power of Citizen Science as more than just a tool to record observations, but as a fundamental infrastructure to supercharge connection to nature, and to drive data based conservation efforts.

The land on which we gather is the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Peoples. Their stewardship and respect for this land has carried forward for thousands of years long before settlers named it “Stanley Park”.
