SUMMARY:The World of Mosses with Shona Ellis
DESCRIPTION:Get Tickets\n Problems using the ticket form below? You can also get tickets here. \n SPES uses the Zeffy platform to process payments\, so your entire purchase goes to us. If you’d like to help Zeffy keep running its services\, you can choose to tip them. If you don’t want to\, choose “Other” in the drop-down menu and then enter $0. \n\n\n\n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nIN-PERSON PROGRAM \n\n\n\nHave you ever gazed in wonder at the miniature forests that cover the trees\, rocks\, and ground? Mosey over to this program with UBC professor and moss maven Shona Ellis to absorb info about the magical mosses all around us. Shona will explore the amazing diversity of mosses and their kin\, unfurl their fascinating flowerless life cycles\, and identify some of the most common mosses you can see in Stanley Park. Don’t miss the chance to find out more about these beautiful bryophytes! This is a longer outing\, please be prepared for moving at a moderate pace on the trails. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPROGRAM DETAILS \n\n\n\nAccessibility notes: This program requires moving at a moderate pace with moderate inclines on some uneven surfaces around Lost Lagoon (such as gravel and pavement) and proceeding to forested trails for up to 2.5 hours. Please allow yourself enough time to return. If you have any questions about accessibility\, please email Julia at publiced@stanleyparkecology.ca       \n\n\n\nThis program will meet at the NW corner of Lost Lagoon\, near the stone bridge\, and proceed to nearby trails. Please arrive 5 minutes early to sign in. See link for map of meeting location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/PNrXR5HMxkaijD589 (1) (2) (3) (4)   \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nTerms and Conditions \n\n\n\n(1) Registration required - NO DROP-INS ARE ALLOWED.  Fees for this program are based on a sliding scale – you choose what you pay!        \n\n\n\n(2) Weather dependent - Please check your email 12 hours before the program date and time to confirm it has not been cancelled due to inclement weather such as high winds\, heavy rain\, or extreme heat.         \n\n\n\n(3) Program Availability – Program full or you cannot attend this day or time?   Sign up here to be notified when the program runs in the future.         \n\n\n\n(4) Cancellation policy – We refund cancellations due to illness to keep everyone healthy\, but the number of recent cancellations is impacting our capacity to run these programs. If you must cancel\, please let us know if you need a refund or if you are able to help us offer affordable programs for the public by donating your registration fee. (This is one way we can all subsidize programs in this changing economic climate and ensure these programs are available on a sliding scale.)   \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWe gratefully acknowledge that the land on which we gather and help steward is the unceded and traditional territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam)\, Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation\, and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Since time immemorial\, Coast Salish peoples have lived reciprocally with the land\, harvesting and cultivating foods and medicines and practicing ceremony. The abundance of these lands and waters\, which enables us to live\, work\, and play here today\, is a result of the past and on-going stewardship and advocacy of the Coast Salish peoples.
