You can also register here. \n\n\n\n  \n    \n  \n\n\n\n\nIN-PERSON PROGRAM  \n\n\n\nDid you know that every spring\, Pacific great blue herons take to over 100 nests to raise their young? And all at the intersection of Stanley Park and Downtown Vancouver? Don’t believe us? See for yourself! Join SPES staff for a special site visit to the Stanley Park heron rookery and learn all about how these beautiful and large birds navigate the canopy\, build their nests\, and raise their fledglings. You’ll also discover how Stanley Park Ecology Society stewards and supports the heron colony by protecting them from predators and monitoring their success in summer surveys. This is part of the Greater Vancouver Bird Celebration! \n\n\n\nABOUT THE GREATER VANCOUVER BIRD CELEBRATION  \n\n\n\nGet more familiar with the birds around us during the Greater Vancouver Bird Celebration! Organized by a collection of non-profits\, artists\, and other institutions\, the Celebration is a two-week series of events to appreciate the bird species of Greater Vancouver. Events are open to all and most are free\, with programs including bird-related workshops\, walks\, talks\, exhibitions\, and lectures. Check out all the events here: https://vancouverbirdcelebration.ca/  \n\n\n\nPROGRAM DETAILS \n\n\n\nAccessibility note: This program requires moving on gravel\, grass\, and uneven pavement from the Nature House on Lost Lagoon\, to the Stanley Park Great Blue Heron rookery (near the tennis courts and Stanley Park Brewing Company). If you have any questions about the accessibility of this program\, please email Julia at publiced@stanleyparkecology.ca.  \n\n\n\nThis program will meet at the Nature House on Lost Lagoon (located underneath the Lost Lagoon viewing platform near the intersection of Alberni and Chilco Streets) and end at the tennis courts by Stanley Park Brewing Company.  Please try to arrive at least 10 minutes in advance of the program.       \n\n\n\nTerms and Conditions \n\n\n\n(1) Registration required - NO DROP-INS ARE ALLOWED.  Fees for this program are based on a sliding scale – you choose what you pay!   \n\n\n\n(2) Weather dependent - Please check your email 12 hours before the program date and time to confirm it has not been cancelled due to inclement weather such as high winds\, heavy rain\, or extreme heat.        \n\n\n\n(3) Program Availability – Program full or you cannot attend this day or time?   Sign up here to be notified when the program runs in the future.  \n\n\n\n(4) Cancellation policy – We refund cancellations due to illness to keep everyone healthy\, but the number of recent cancellations is impacting our capacity to run these programs. If you must cancel\, please let us know if you need a refund or if you are able to help us offer affordable programs for the public by donating your registration fee.
