That’s Not a Duck?! (Online)

March 24 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Photo:  Frank Lin

Look out there…do you see that object floating on the water?  Is it a bird?  Yes!  Is it a duck?  No!  But how can you be sure it’s not a duck?!

Join local photographer and SPES volunteer Frank Lin to demystify the distinction between ducks and not-ducks.  In this follow-up to Frank’s “Winter Waterfowl” program, he will dive deeper into the curious categories of “floaters” that spend much of their time in the water but are not actually ducks.  Groups of birds covered will include grebes, geese, swans, loons, cormorants, and coots.

*Tickets must be purchased in advance. Fees for this program are based on a sliding scale – you choose what you pay!  Your contributions help us bring you more online programs like this one. Ticket sales close 30 minutes before the start of the program.

We gratefully acknowledge that the land on which we gather and help steward is the unceded and traditional territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation, and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Since time immemorial, Coast Salish peoples have lived reciprocally with the land, harvesting and cultivating foods and medicines and practicing ceremony. The abundance of these lands and waters, which enables us to live, work, and play here today, is a result of the past and on-going stewardship and advocacy of the Coast Salish peoples.
