Air Tasting is a way of using the senses to understand the atmosphere as our shared habitat. Throughout June\, Alex Grünenfelder will be tasting the air near Lost Lagoon and publishing his observations in a series of Air Reports on social media ( x.com/airtasting and tobsky.com/airtasting ). \n\n\n\nThis subsequent Stanley Park Air Tasting Workshop will present his multi-sensory method for experiencing the air and guide participants through the atmospheric phenomena around Lost Lagoon. We’ll begin in the Stanley Park Nature House with an introduction to Air Tasting and a series of sensory exercises to explore and express the aromas and air qualities around us. Then we’ll enjoy a short walking tour to taste the airs of the Lagoon.  \n\n\n\nAdditional details will be emailed after registration. \n\n\n\nABOUT THE PROGRAM LEADER \n\n\n\nAlex Grünenfelder is a Canadian and Swiss artist and designer studying the sensory perception of landscapes and the atmosphere. His work employs performance\, printed matter\, informal pedagogy\, and expanded sensory modalities of tasting. Since 2008 he’s been leading sensory workshops and walking tours that introduce people to the particular features of the air in everyday environments. Current projects focus on the sensory analysis of atmospheric phenomena\, and the medical history of the Air Cure and Milk Cure as site-specific climatic therapies. His work has been exhibited in Canada\, USA\, South Korea\, Switzerland and Sweden\, and has been recognized with grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and the British Columbia Arts Council.alexgrunenfelder.com   \n\n\n\nPROGRAM DETAILS \n\n\n\nAccessibility notes: This program will move at a moderate pace around a mostly level path around Lost Lagoon\, on concrete\, gravel\, and dirt trails with a few moderate inclines. The group may possibly go to the seawall or a nearby forest trail\, depending on the air. There are some moderate inclines if accessing the forest trail. If you have any questions or input about accessibility\, please email publiced@stanleyparkecology.ca    \n\n\n\nThis program will meet at the Nature House on Lost Lagoon (located near the intersection of Alberni and Chilco Street\, accessible during construction via the paths at the edge of the Lagoon).  Please arrive 5 minutes early to sign in.   \n\n\n\nTerms and Conditions \n\n\n\n(1) Registration required - NO DROP-INS ARE ALLOWED.  This program is free! If you register and no longer can make it\, please email us at publiced@stanleyparkecology.ca so we can offer the space to another participant. \n\n\n\n(2) Weather – Our tours typically run rain or shine. Rarely\, programs may be postponed or cancelled due extreme weather like high winds or extreme heat.  We will alert you by email if the program needs to be rescheduled.  \n\n\n\nThe land on which we gather is the traditional\, ancestral\, and unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam)\, Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish)\, and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Peoples. Their stewardship and respect for this land has carried forward for thousands of years long before settlers named it “Stanley Park”.
