SUMMARY:Queer Friends and Feathers: Wingspan Tournament
DESCRIPTION:Get Tickets\n Problems using the ticket form below? You can also get tickets here. \n SPES uses the Zeffy platform to process payments\, so your entire purchase goes to us. If you’d like to help Zeffy keep running its services\, you can choose to tip them. If you don’t want to\, choose “Other” in the drop-down menu and then enter $0. \n\n\n\n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nIN-PERSON PROGRAM  \n\n\n\nJoin Birds Canada biologist Remi Torrenta (he/him) for a try at the infamous birding boardgame – Wingspan! This fun\, card-driven game revolves around attracting the best birds and scores to your habitat.  And while you don’t need to know about birds to play\, you’ll for sure pick up some favourites along the way. This event will be a tournament style\, starting with a teaching round\, and followed by two rounds of games in split groups. Spend an autumn day with some coffee/hot cocoa\, snacks\, and some hopefully not too competitive gaming with other queer folks!  \n\n\n\nWe invite all queer\, non-binary\, gender-queer and trans people to participate! \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nABOUT “Queer Friends and Feathers” SERIES  \n\n\n\nWelcome to the SPES’ Queer Friends and Feathers! We’ll be hosting some free events that focus on different ways we can connect with birds outside in so called “Stanley Park” – whether that is a guided birding tour\, art and photography\, or learning a more specific skill like bird surveying. This series is for queer and trans people that want to learn more about nature together. Come with a friend or alone\, have a snack\, and take it easy – you don’t need any experience to appreciate birds!   \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPROGRAM DETAILS       \n\n\n\nAccessibility notes: This program requires moving at a moderate pace with moderate inclines on some uneven surfaces around Lost Lagoon (such as gravel and pavement) for up to 1.5 hours. If you have any questions about accessibility\, please email Anna at publiced@stanleyparkecology.ca      \n\n\n\n      \n\n\n\nThis program will meet at the Nature House on Lost Lagoon (located near the intersection of Alberni and Chilco Street\, underneath the viewing platform) and proceed to the seawall. Please arrive 10 minutes early to sign in.   (1) (2) (3) (4)  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nTerms and conditions     \n\n\n\n(1) Registration required - sorry\, no drop-ins allowed.  This program is free! \n\n\n\n(2) Weather dependent - Please check your email 12 hours before the program date and time to confirm it has not been cancelled due to inclement weather such as high winds\, heavy rain\, or extreme heat.         \n\n\n\n(3) Program Availability – Program full or you cannot attend this day or time?   Sign up here to be notified when the program runs in the future.         \n\n\n\n(4) Cancellation policy – We refund cancellations due to illness to keep everyone healthy\, but the number of recent cancellations is impacting our capacity to run these programs. If you must cancel\, please let us know if you need a refund or if you are able to help us offer affordable programs for the public by donating your registration fee. (This is one way we can all subsidize programs in this changing economic climate and ensure these programs are available on a sliding scale.)   \n\n\n\n            \n\n\n\nWe gratefully acknowledge that the land on which we gather and help steward is the unceded and traditional territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam)\, Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation\, and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Since time immemorial\, Coast Salish peoples have lived reciprocally with the land\, harvesting and cultivating foods and medicines and practicing ceremony. The abundance of these lands and waters\, which enables us to live\, work\, and play here today\, is a result of the past and on-going stewardship and advocacy of the Coast Salish peoples.
