IN-PERSON PROGRAM
Did you know that Stanley Park is home to many species of bats that play a vital role in our local ecosystem? As daylight fades, these remarkable mammals emerge to navigate the dark using echolocation, consuming vast amounts of insects each night. Join local bat researcher Tabitha Vinu for an evening walk to learn more about the fascinating lives of our nocturnal neighbors, the threats they face in an urban environment, and how we can protect their critical habitats.
Note: Participants may wish to bring a flashlight for the end of the program.
PROGRAM DETAILS
Meeting and Location: Stanley Park Pavilion, near the #19 bus loop – https://maps.app.goo.gl/XyFvd42PAJjmR5oW6 (on the opposite side of the building as the gardens)
Accessibility notes: This program will move at a slow-moderate pace on surfaces such as gravel and pavement for up to 1.5 hours. There are some minor declines to travel from the Pavilion to either Lost Lagoon or Beaver Lake (to be determined). Route: This program will meet at the Stanley Park Pavilion and travel down to either Lost Lagoon or Beaver Lake (depending on recent bat activity).
Please arrive 10 minutes early to check in.
Terms and Conditions
(1) Registration required - NO DROP-INS ARE ALLOWED. This is a free program.
(2) Weather – Our tours typically run rain or shine. Rarely, programs may be postponed or cancelled due extreme weather like high winds or extreme heat. We will alert you by email if the program needs to be rescheduled. If the program cannot be rescheduled, refunds will be offered with a 20% administration fee or you may choose to transfer your ticket to another program of the same value.

Their stewardship and respect for this land has carried forward for thousands of years long before settlers named it “Stanley Park”.
