ONLINE PROGRAM
Join us for a hands-on virtual illustration workshop where you’ll learn to sketch an Anna’s hummingbird, step by step! Led by environmental professional and artist Isabel Gasior, and perfect for beginners, this session will guide you through simple shapes, basic shading, and the key parts of a bird—like the beak, wings, and feathers. By the end, you’ll have your own bird sketch and a solid foundation in pencil drawing techniques.
Materials needed: Paper and pencil.
This event is part of the Greater Vancouver Bird Celebration!
LEADER BIO
Isabel Gasior has been passionate about birding since 2013, when her studies sparked an interest in bird species. She spent five years working in invasive plant management, where she combined her plant identification skills with art to create scientific illustrations. Now working as an Environmental Coordinator, she continues to illustrate plants and wildlife in her spare time, using art to highlight the subtle details needed for species identification.

The land on which we gather is the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Peoples. Their stewardship and respect for this land has carried forward for thousands of years long before settlers named it “Stanley Park”.
