IN-PERSON PROGRAM

Join us for an evening all about the marvelous bald eagles in our region, from the 400+ active nests in the Fraser Valley to the 4 active breeding pairs nesting here in Stanley Park each year. With representatives from the Hancock Wildlife Foundation and Stanley Park Ecology, this talk will cover ecology, behaviour, nesting habits, regional history, and more about bald eagles in the Lower Mainland and Stanley Park.

ABOUT THE HANCOCK WILDLIFE FOUNDATION

The Hancock Wildlife Foundation was created in 2006 by the established biologist David Hancock, whose first research project on bald eagles started in the 1950s. For over 60 years, he has worked to re-establish this dangerously threatened species. The Foundation continues this work by supporting eagle nest cameras, essential research into migration patterns, other education projects plus habitat consultancy and nest mitigation work.

The land on which we gather is the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh), and Tsleil-Waututh (səlilwətaɬ) Peoples. Their stewardship and respect for this land has carried forward for thousands of years long before settlers named it “Stanley Park”.
