IN-PERSON WALK 

Salish and Northwest Coast Peoples have thrived here on the West Coast effectively and sustainably using over 130 plants and trees for food and medicine.  If you include the ocean, Indigenous Peoples access over 500 food and medicines from the land and ocean combined.  In this community program and collaboration between SPES and Talaysay Tours, join us as Talaysay Tours shares ‘How the Land Feeds Us’ and discusses the ecological and harvest practices of this land we now call BC and Vancouver through storytelling, marine and land ecology, Indigenous knowledge and technology, and more.  This program will be moved online if park closures continue. 

 
This program will follow approved COVID protocols, and attendees must respect these protocols to participate in the program.  All participants must pre-register – NO DROP-INS ALLOWED.  To make everyone comfortable, we will encourage distancing and will be keeping numbers low to accommodate this.  This means slightly more expensive ticket prices for this program – but we hope to be able to return to our pre-COVID ticket prices in the future.  

To run this program, we will need a minimum number of people. We will contact you 3-days before if we are unable to run the program, and will offer full refunds if so. Please check your email and junk folder for this notice before coming to the program – thank you for your understanding!  

This program will meet at the Stanley Park Information Booth (located on Stanley Park Drive near the horse-drawn tours area).  Please try to arrive at least 15 minutes in advance of the program. 

*By purchasing a ticket, you are confirming you have read, understood, and agree to follow all COVID-19 protocols found here.  Participants must include a telephone number and email address for contact tracing.  This program will require 15 participants to run. 

**All participants must pre-register for this program – NO DROP-INS ARE ALLOWED.  Fees for this program are based on a sliding scale – you choose what you pay!  The sliding scale is slightly higher on this program and with a limited number of the cheaper tickets, but it is still less expensive than a normal in-park tour.  Your contributions help support our programs and this fabulous local Indigenous-led company!  

***This program is weather dependent.  Please check your email 12 hours before the program date/time to confirm it has not been cancelled due to inclement weather such as high winds, heavy rain or extreme heat.

*****Cancellation policy – We are aiming to be accommodating for refunds due to sickness to keep everyone healthy, but the number of recent cancellations is impacting our capacity to run these programs. If you must cancel, please let us know if you need a refund or if you are able to help us offer affordable programs for the public (we will continue to seek ways of subsidizing programs in this changing economic climate as well!)
