If you don’t want to\, choose “Other” in the drop-down menu and then enter $0. \n\n\n\n  \n    \n  \n\n\n\n\nIN-PERSON PROGRAM  \n\n\n\nDid you know that every spring\, Pacific great blue herons take to over 100 nests to raise their young\, right here in Stanley Park at the edge of Downtown Vancouver? Join a SPE Educator for a special site visit to the heron rookery and learn all about how these beautiful and large birds navigate the canopy\, build their nests\, and raise their fledglings. You’ll also discover how Stanley Park Ecology supports the heron colony by monitoring their success during regular surveys and installing anti-predation tools. This is part of our annual series of heron programming! This time of year\, the trees are alive with the chorus of begging chicks\, and many juveniles are learning how to fly and fledging the nest! \n\n\n\nPROGRAM DETAILS \n\n\n\nMeeting Location: Nature House on Lost Lagoon (located underneath the Lost Lagoon viewing platform near the intersection of Chilco and Alberni Streets): https://maps.app.goo.gl/MJVLWV2NEqGnF7U98  \n\n\n\nEnd Location: Tennis courts near Stanley Park Brewing: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ghbdGWQeQpJUC7wUA \n\n\n\n\nParticipants have the option of joining the Educator back to the Nature House.\n\n\n\n\nAccessibility note: This program requires moving on gravel\, grass\, and uneven pavement from the Nature House on Lost Lagoon\, to the Stanley Park Great Blue Heron rookery (near the tennis courts and Stanley Park Brewing). Once there\, we won’t be moving around that much. If you have any questions about the accessibility of this program\, please email Julia at publiced@stanleyparkecology.ca.  \n\n\n\nPlease arrive 10 minutes in advance of the program. \n\n\n\nTerms and Conditions \n\n\n\n(1) Registration required - NO DROP-INS ARE ALLOWED.  Fees for this program are based on a sliding scale – reduced fees are available for those with financial barriers.  \n\n\n\n(2)  Cancellation policy – We offer partial refunds for program fees up to 7 days before the program. A 20% administration fee applies. Cancellations with less than the required notice are non-refundable. We do not refund fees for late or missed programs. Please request a refund by emailing publiced@stanleyparkecology.ca. You may also choose to support our public education programming by donating your registration fee.  \n\n\n\n(3) Weather – Our tours typically run rain or shine. Rarely\, programs may be postponed or cancelled due extreme weather like high winds or extreme heat.  We will alert you by email if the program needs to be rescheduled. If the program cannot be rescheduled\, refunds will be offered with a 20% administration fee or you may choose to transfer your ticket to another program of the same value.   \n\n\n\n(4) Program Availability – Program full? Sign up here to be notified if a spot opens up. We also have a monthly events newsletter that you can subscribe to here. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe land on which we gather is the traditional\, ancestral\, and unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam)\, Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish)\, and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Peoples. Their stewardship and respect for this land has carried forward for thousands of years long before settlers named it “Stanley Park”.
