SUMMARY:Earth Day EcoStewards - (Event Full)
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this special Earth Day EcoStewards/Eco-Art Workshop! \n\n\n\nFor this session\, we’ll be joined by Eco-Artist Joshua Ralph who will be teaching us how to turn ever-abundant English Ivy into soap and create invasive species ink-based mono prints from the leaves. You’ll gain hands-on experience in stewarding Stanley Park as we remove invasive English ivy from the forest before turning it into soap in the second half of the session. Throughout the session we’ll discuss the history and ecology of Ivy within the context of the Lower Mainland\, along with the many uses for the plant – both creative and practical. \n\n\n\nRegistration for this event is full. \n\n\n\nTo attend EcoStewards you must register online before the event. There will be a sign-in sheet on the morning of the event. \n\n\n\nEcoStewards registration is now on Better Impact\, register here to create a Better Impact profile. Once you have created a profile you will be able to register for this and all future EcoStewards sessions via Better Impact. \n\n\n\nFor more information about the EcoStewards volunteer program\, you can read about the program here \n\n\n\nAbout the Artist: \n\n\n\nJoshua Ralph is a media and community-engaged eco-artist. He’s worked across Southwest BC\, developing and delivering programming on rendering invasive plants\, harvested from local restoration sites\, to create useable art-making materials. His work includes making paper\, pencils\, ink and more out of invasive plants.  Joshua’s practice aims to serve as a bridge between ecology and art\, providing environmentally sustainable and accessible art supplies to his fellow community members.
