My name is Alison. I’m a biologist at Diamond Head Consulting. I was born in Canada and my parents moved here from Hong Kong in the late 1980s. I’ve been interested in nature and wildlife ever since I was in elementary school. I feel extremely grateful to have the opportunity to work in this field\, and to be able to guide you through this birding adventure! I hope that this event will help grow your interest in both birding and nature. I look forward to meeting all of you and sharing our interests in birds together. ” \n\n\n\nVinci Au:  “Hi there! I’m Vinci (礎均)\, a researcher (基因研究員) at the University of British Columbia. My family moved from Hong Kong to Vancouver in the late 80’s\, and I’ve always had a deep connection to nature thanks to my grandfather. We used to go on trail walks near our home in Richmond\, where he would point out the beautiful birds flying above and scurrying in the bushes. Those moments with him sparked my interest in birding.  \n\n\n\nOver the years\, I’ve been lucky enough to connect with passionate conservationists\, local birders and scientists through a non-profit called WildResearch. It’s been an incredible learning experience\, and I want to share that joy with others. I believe birding should be a community activity that everyone can enjoy together. So\, I’m excited to introduce you to the amazing birds hiding right in front of us.  \n\n\n\nJoin me on this journey of discovery as we uncover the wonders of avian life and deepen our connection to the natural world.” \n\n\n\nAbout “Birding with Me” Series \n\n\n\nCome Birding with Me and learn about our local birds on free\, guided bird walks that celebrate diversity in bird and human communities. Inspired by the National Audubon Society’s Let’s Go Birding Together series\, Birding with Me walks welcome in members of different communities led by experts of shared identity to explore birding together and meet new people. Check out the Birding with Me webpage for all events. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nProgram Details \n\n\n\nAccessibility notes: This program requires moving at a moderate pace with moderate inclines on some uneven surfaces (such as gravel and pavement) for up to 2 hours.
