SUMMARY:Birding with Me: Mandarin Speakers / 讓我們一起去賞鳥吧 (In-person)
DESCRIPTION:IN-PERSON PROGRAM  \n\n\n\nLed by biologist Andrew Huang\, this walk will introduce you to the birds found at Iona Beach Regional Park. See birds like Western sandpipers\, Yellow-rumped warblers\, and Red-winged blackbirds while meeting new people and sharing in the outdoors. \n\n\n\nThis program will meet at Iona Beach Regional Park\, Richmond\, by the washrooms. Please try to arrive 15 minutes in advance of the program. \n\n\n\nWe are proud to include this program in our Vancouver Bird Celebration events. Check out our other free events from May 14 to May 29 and get excited about birds with us!  \n\n\n\nAbout your Bird Guide \n\n\n\n您好！ \n\n\n\nHello! My name is Andrew and I’m currently a biologist at the Canadian Wildlife Service. Growing up in Taipei and Vancouver\, I never took notice of the wildlife around me despite always being surrounded by the water and mountains. It wasn’t until university that I started noticing the diversity of birds and other wildlife around me\, and that you really don’t have to go far from your house to see them. Did you know that Richmond isn’t just about eating delicious dumpling soup noodles or taking a stroll in a fishing wharf? At Iona\, you will be dazzled by the diversity and abundance of birds! This 2-hour trip at Iona will start out by a visit to a banding station to see songbirds close-up\, followed by a bird walk through the marshes\, beaches\, and forests. I look forward to meeting you all! \n\n\n\nAccessibility note: We will be moving on some uneven surfaces and moderate inclines for up to 2 hours. If you have any questions about accessibility\, please email Anna at publiced@stanleyparkecology.ca.    \n\n\n\n   \n\n\n\n***This program is weather dependent.  Please check your email 12 hours before the program date/time to confirm it has not been cancelled due to inclement weather such as high winds\, heavy rain or extreme heat. Please dress appropriately for the weather.  \n\n\n\n     \n\n\n\n****Program full or you can’t attend this day/time?  Sign up here to be notified if this program runs again in the future!          \n\n\n\n        \n\n\n\n*****Cancellation policy – We are accommodating refunds for cancellations due to illness to keep everyone healthy\, but the number of recent cancellations is impacting our capacity to run these programs. If you must cancel\, please let us know if you need a refund or if you are able to help us offer affordable programs for the public (we will continue to seek ways of subsidizing programs in this changing economic climate as well!)          \n\n\n\n        \n\n\n\nWe gratefully acknowledge that the land on which we gather and help steward is the unceded and traditional territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam)\, Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation\, and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Since time immemorial\, Coast Salish peoples have lived reciprocally with the land\, harvesting and cultivating foods and medicines and practicing ceremony. The abundance of these lands and waters\, which enables us to live\, work\, and play here today\, is a result of the past and on-going stewardship and advocacy of the Coast Salish peoples.
