DESCRIPTION:Register on Eventbrite\n\n\nWALK\n\n\n\nLed by researcher\, Vinci Au\, this walk will introduce you to the birds found at Iona Beach Regional Park. See birds like Yellow-rumped warblers\, Red-eyed vireos\, and Red-winged blackbirds while meeting new people and sharing in the outdoors. \n\n\n\nThis program will meet at the Iona Beach Regional Park\, Richmond (meet by the washrooms) / 艾歐那海灘公園，列治文(公共廁所旁集合). Please try to arrive at least 15 minutes in advance of the program. \n\n\n\nNote: the park can be reached by car or bike. Unfortunately there is no public transit to the park. \n\n\n\nCheck out the Birding with Me series webpage to see all the events! \n\n\n\nThanks to our friends at the BC Bird Trail for their support on this event. \n\n\n\nAbout your Bird Guide \n\n\n\nHi\, my name is Vinci (礎均) and I’m a researcher (基因研究員) at the University of British Columbia. My family immigrated from Hong Kong to the very different landscape of Vancouver in the late 80’s. As a young child\, my grandfather would often take me on trail walks near our home in Richmond. On those walks\, he would point out all the little birds flitting in the branches above or scurrying in the bushes beside us. We may not have known all the names of the birds then\, but I deeply appreciated those moments we shared walking and watching together. Since then I’ve had the good fortune of birding with really enthusiastic and knowledgeable local birders/scientists. I think everyone should have an opportunity to bird in community\, and I’m excited to introduce you to the birds hidden in plain sight. \n\n\n\nBirding with Me is a part of the Vancouver Bird Celebration and organized collaboratively by Stanley Park Ecology Society\, Canadian Wildlife Service\, Birds Canada\, and the BC Bird Trail. Thank you so much to the Port of Vancouver for funding this series. \n\n\n\nThis program will follow approved COVID protocols\, and attendees must respect these protocols to participate in the program. All participants must pre-register. To make everyone comfortable\, we will encourage distancing and will be keeping numbers low to accommodate this. \n\n\n\n*By purchasing a ticket\, you are confirming you have read\, understood\, and agree to follow all COVID-19 protocols found here.
