This special evening features a captivating talk from crow expert and photographer June Hunter\, a celebration of local birding communities\, and the presentation of the 2025 Alan Duncan Bird Conservation Award to this year’s inspiring recipient\, Trenton Schulz-Franco. \n\n\n\nCrow Watching with June HunterFor over 15 years\, Vancouver-based photographer June Hunter has observed and photographed urban crows\, uncovering their personalities\, family dynamics\, seasonal behaviours\, and hilarious quirks. Her talk—rich with stories and stunning visuals—will introduce you to the vibrant lives of crows and share tips on how to start noticing (and even recognizing) the individuals in your own neighbourhood. \n\n\n\nShe regularly shares her stories and crow observations in her blog\, the Urban Nature Enthusiast\, in her annual City Crow Calendar\, and in her new book\, City Crow Stories. You can find out more on her website (junehunter.com).   \n\n\n\nHonouring Trenton Schulz-FrancoWe’re thrilled to recognize Trenton Schulz-Franco\, founder of the Special Bird Service Society\, as this year’s Alan Duncan Bird Conservation Award winner. Trenton’s work brings together art\, ecology\, and community to create inclusive birding spaces for BIPOC and 2SLGBTQ+ communities. He’ll share a few words about his work and vision during the evening. \n\n\n\nYou’ll also have a chance to meet local birding organizations\, connect with the birding community\, and get excited for upcoming Bird Celebration programs running from May 9 to 25. \n\n\n\nLearn more about Trenton and the Alan Duncan Award at:https://vancouverbirdcelebration.ca/alan-duncan-bird-conservation-award/ \n\n\n\nAll ages and experience levels welcome—whether you’re a seasoned birder or just bird-curious. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPROGRAM DETAILS  \n\n\n\nAccessibility notes: This program will take place indoors\, mostly while seated.
