If you don’t want to\, choose “Other” in the drop-down menu and then enter $0. \n\n\n\n  \n    \n  \n\n\n\n\nIN-PERSON PROGRAM \n\n\n\nTry your hand at the art of Ayacuchan embroidery in this special workshop with artist Valeria Valdeiglesias. This traditional technique comes from Ayacucho\, located in Perú. Andean textile traditions date back as early as 3000 BC and have huge cultural significance\, as well as bold colours and outstanding beauty. This class will consist of understanding the stitches used for Ayacuchan embroidery and putting them to practice by embroidering one of their most used patterns: a highland flower. This design can then be turned into either a patch or a small coin purse. All skill levels welcome\, no experience necessary! \n\n\n\n**Ticket sales will close on Thursday\, April 10th\, 4:00 pm** \n\n\n\nABOUT THE ARTIST  \n\n\n\nMy name is Valeria and I am originally from Lima\, Perú but been living in Vancouver for over 5 years. I’ve been embroidering since 2015 with an embroidery master from Ayacucho and learned all my crafts thanks to her. I teach Peruvian Embroidery as well as Ayacuchan Telar (a way of knitting without using two sticks) I am passionate about art\, animals\, nature and I am inspired by my surroundings.  \n\n\n\nPROGRAM DETAILS  \n\n\n\nAccessibility notes: This program is located in our office on the second floor of the Stanley Park Pavilion\, which is currently only accessible by stairs. If you have any questions about accessibility\, please email Julia at publiced@stanleyparkecology.ca  \n\n\n\nThis program will be held at the SPES office in the Stanley Park Dining Pavilion on the second floor — location here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ACpoa6G4ujT6ucrC6  \n\n\n\nTerms and Conditions \n\n\n\n(1) Registration required - NO DROP-INS ARE ALLOWED.  Fees for this program are based on a sliding scale – reduced fees are available for those with financial barriers.  \n\n\n\n(2)  Cancellation policy  – We offer partial refunds for program fees up to 14 days before the program. A 20% administration fee applies. Cancellations with less than the required notice are non-refundable. We do not refund fees for late or missed programs. Please request a refund by emailing publiced@stanleyparkecology.ca. You may also choose to support our public education programming by donating your registration fee.  \n\n\n\n(3) Weather – Rarely\, programs may be postponed or cancelled due extreme weather like high winds or extreme heat.  We will alert you by email if the program needs to be rescheduled. Their stewardship and respect for this land has carried forward for thousands of years long before settlers named it “Stanley Park”.
