Adventures in Algae (Online)

December 7, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 7:45 pm

Photo:  Denis Seguin

Did you know that all seaweed is algae, but not all algae is seaweed?!  Join algae aficionado Adrian Kense to explore the underwater forests of macroalgae growing right offshore of Stanley Park.  Learn all about red, green, and brown algae while diving into some specific species of seaweed like rockweed, sargassum, and bull kelp.  Jump into this program for a quick dip into the awesome world of algae!

*Tickets must be purchased in advance. Fees for this program are based on a sliding scale – you choose what you pay!  Your contributions help us bring you more online programs like this one! Ticket sales close 30 minutes before the start of the program.

**This program will take place on Zoom, so please make sure you have Zoom downloaded well in advance of the webinar.  A Zoom link can be found within your confirmation email, and will also be sent out one hour before the start of the program. Only one ticket required per household.

***This program is a pilot program with an external educator, so at this time we won’t be sharing a recording for this program.

We gratefully acknowledge that the land on which we gather and help steward is the unceded and traditional territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation, and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nation. Since time immemorial, Coast Salish peoples have lived reciprocally with the land, harvesting and cultivating foods and medicines and practicing ceremony. The abundance of these lands and waters, which enables us to live, work, and play here today, is a result of the past and on-going stewardship and advocacy of the Coast Salish peoples.
