Stanley Park Ecology is hiring an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Nature House Educator to support public programming and daily operations at the Stanley Park Nature House on Lost Lagoon—Vancouver’s only ecology-focused interpretive centre. This position offers a unique opportunity to inspire curiosity and environmental stewardship in visitors of all ages through Nature House interpretation and programs, educational ecology-themed outreach activities and guided tours in the Park. The Nature House operates 7 days a week in July and August. Nature House Educator shifts are 9:30 am to 5:00 pm.
Role Responsibilities
- Interact warmly and professionally with the public, providing interpretation of Nature House exhibits and ecology topics.
- Work collaboratively with the Education Manager and Public Environmental Education Coordinator in the planning of Nature House activities and tours aligned with Stanley Park Ecology’s mission and values.
- Under the direction of the Public Environmental Education Coordinator, deliver public programming activities and guided walking tours, for both children and adults.
- Help maintain and refresh educational displays and program materials.
- Conduct basic day-to-day operations of the Nature House, including handling cash, processing payments, and tidying the space to maintain a welcoming and organized environment.
- Participate in training, regular check-ins, and end-of-season program evaluation.
Qualifications
Education, Experience, and Training
- Friendly and passionate about working with people and nature
- Strong understanding of local (BC) ecology and natural history
- Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
- Experience in ecology interpretation or guided tours is an asset
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors, including in variable weather
- Available to work the assigned schedule for the duration of the season (including weekends).
- Emergency First Aid with CPR-C (or willingness to obtain by start date)

- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- This position is funded in part by Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ). CSJ positions require that applicants MUST meet the following criteria:
- Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
- A Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act [S.C. 2001, c. 27]*; and
- Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations. *International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.

Compensation and Benefits
$20.00 per hr, plus 4% in lieu of vacation pay
