Stanley Park Ecology is hiring enthusiastic and responsible Day Camp Leaders to deliver our outdoor summer day camps for children ages 7 to 11. Our EcoCamp provides hands-on, nature-based learning experiences that explore the forests, wetlands, and intertidal zones of Stanley Park. As a Day Camp Leader, you’ll be part of a supportive, mission-driven team that helps young people discover the wonders of nature through exploration, play, and inquiry-based learning. This is a meaningful opportunity to build your experience in outdoor education while making a lasting impact on youth in a beautiful, park-based setting. EcoCamp operates from July 6 through August 28, 2026. Day Camp Leader shifts are 8:45 am to 4:15 pm, Monday to Friday.
Role Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Child & Youth Programs Coordinator, support the preparation of outdoor camp activities aligned with Stanley Park Ecology’s EcoCamp curriculum
- Lead daily camp activities and follow camp protocols, always ensuring the safety and wellbeing of camp participants
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with campers, parents, and staff
- Maintain, organize, and prepare program materials and supplies each day
- Participate in training, regular check-ins, and end-of-season program evaluation
Qualifications
Education, Experience, and Training
- Experience leading day camps, outdoor education programs, or working with children in a group setting
- Familiarity with local ecosystems and a passion for environmental education
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team collaboration skills
- Able to confidently lead active programs outdoors in all weather conditions
- Post-secondary studies in education, biology, environmental science, or related fields are considered an asset
- Comfortable navigating and supervising groups in natural areas, including trails and beach environments
- Available to work the assigned schedule for the duration of the season
- Emergency First Aid with CPR-C (or willingness to obtain by start date)

- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- This position is funded in part by Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ). CSJ positions require that applicants MUST meet the following criteria:
- Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
- A Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act [S.C. 2001, c. 27]*; and
- Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations. *International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.

Compensation and Benefits
$20.00 per hr, plus 4% in lieu of vacation pay
