Reporting to the Fundraising & Development Manager, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator will play a key role in promoting awareness of all Stanley Park Ecology initiatives including programs, events, and conservation efforts. This individual will work closely with the team to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that increases visibility, engagement, and support for the organization’s mission.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising
- Role out new branding across the organization
- Develop and implement marketing and communications strategies across various platforms (social media, website, email newsletters, etc.).
- Create compelling content that highlights programs, events, and initiatives to a diverse audience.
- Manage and grow social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.), ensuring brand consistency and engagement.
- Coordinate and execute email marketing campaigns, including writing and designing newsletters, event promotions, and community updates.
- Develop press releases, media kits, and other communication materials for external stakeholders.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with local media outlets and influencers to maximize press coverage.
- Assist with the organization’s website content updates, ensuring accurate, relevant, and engaging information.
- Support fundraising campaigns and donor communications through targeted messaging and outreach strategies.
- Track and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, adjusting strategies as needed to meet goals.
- Provide support for SPES events, including promotions, outreach, and on-site communication.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- A degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in marketing and communications, ideally in a non-profit, environmental, or community-focused setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create compelling, engaging content.
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms and digital marketing strategies.
- Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., MailChimp, Constant Contact).
- Basic graphic design skills and proficiency with design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
- Experience with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress) is an asset.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects with deadlines.
- Passion and understanding of local ecology, environmental conservation and sustainability a strong asset.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
