The Cob House operates from 5:30-10:30 pm daily, and from 1:30-5:30 pm on weekends. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to select their preferred shifts within this schedule.

SPES is seeking an organized and service-oriented Team Leader to join our team as a paid Popcorn Vendor during the Ghost Train event. This role involves leading a small team of volunteers, ensuring smooth operations, and contributing to the success of this important fall fundraising initiative. The role is based at the “Cob House” in the Stanley Park Miniature Train Plaza.
As a Team Leader, you’ll play a key role in making the Ghost Train experience memorable for all attendees while directly contributing to Stanley Park. Your efforts will help support our ongoing conservation projects and educational programs that benefit both the park and the community.

Role Responsibilities:
- Oversee shift operations by leading volunteers, delegating tasks, and ensuring smooth workflow at the popcorn stand;
- Prepare and sell popcorn to visitors, providing excellent customer service;
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including monitoring food handling practices and maintaining a clean work area.
- Oversee inventory by checking stock levels, restocking supplies, and liaising with the Development Coordinator to ensure sufficient materials for each shift;
- Complete opening and closing duties, including setup, cleanup, cashing out, and maintaining a fully stocked space;
- Handle cash and card payments using Square, ensuring accurate transactions;
- Move inventory from the Stanley Park Pavilion to the Cob House (occasional heavy lifting required);
- Assist in setting up promotional materials at the stand to help raise awareness about SPES programs and initiatives;
- Answer queries from Park visitors.
Qualifications:
- Strong leadership skills and ability to guide and supervise volunteers;
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision;
- Enjoy interacting with the public and able to communicate in a friendly and polite manner;
- Strong English-speaking skills;
- Experience in customer service and working in a fast-paced environment;
- Able to lift up to 40lb;
- Willingness to work in a semi-outdoor environment;
- Reliable transportation to and from Stanley Park (Note that the city bus terminus for the 19 bus is right next door);
- Experience navigating card transactions via Square or similar software is an asset;
- FoodSafe Level 1 is an asset, but not required.
