Giving Tuesday: Build a Future for Birds in Stanley Park!

Giving Tuesday is a national day of giving – the “opening day” of giving season. It’s a day where everyone comes together to support their favourite cause through volunteering or donating. This November 28th, SPES is offering you the opportunity to help birds in Stanley Park: get “hands on” with a nest box building workshop or donate to support bird habitat in Stanley Park.

Bird populations across North America have seen significant changes to their habitat in recent years. For many species, this has meant a loss of their food, shelter and nesting sites. The Stanley Park Ecology Society is constructing, installing and monitoring nest boxes for tree swallows, violet green swallows, and wood ducks around Beaver Lake and Lost Lagoon. Each nest box we build in Stanley Park provides valuable habitat for these vulnerable species, allowing them a place to nest in safety away from predators.

Join our “Nest Box Building Bee” at the Nature House on Lost Lagoon, Tuesday, November 28, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (all tools and building materials provided). Max 15 people. Register by emailing sponsors@stanleyparkecology.ca
