SPES is in overdrive preparing for a busy summer of research, daycamps, a huge citizen science Bioblitz, habitat stewardship, and more. #1: June 5 is World Environment Day, the United Nations’ most important day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. We invite you to act locally and support Stanley Park.
#2: This year Canada is hosting World Environment Day with the theme of“Connecting People to Nature” – which is SPES’ own tagline! Every year our school and public programs connect over 20,000 people to nature in Stanley Park. But, we can do better, creating even more environmental stewards today and for the future.
#3: June marks the Great Canadian Giving Challenge, a national public contest to benefit any registered Canadian charity. Every $1 donated to a registered charity in June via CanadaHelps.org automatically enters the charity to win an additional $10,000 donation. The grand prize draw is on Canada Day and with your help, we could win!
