Naturalist Dick Cannings announced for AGM – Oct 24th

 

We are pleased to announce that author and naturalist Richard (Dick) Cannings will be the guest speaker at SPES’s Annual General Meeting, which takes place on October 24.

In his keynote presentation Birds: Richness and Rarity in the City, Dick will share his insights about the birds of Vancouver—their diversity, populations and decline.

Dick has produced natural history programs for CBC, teaches field ecology courses at UBC, and is also a consulting biologist on species at risk in the Okanagan Valley. He has written a number of books, winning several awards, including the Canadian Science Writers’ Book Award. A signed copy of his most recent book, Birdfinding in British Columbia, will be given away to one lucky winner during the AGM.

The AGM is a fantastic opportunity to see what SPES has been up in 2013, and for you to give us feedback on how we’re doing. You can also hear the many highlights of our conservation, research and education programs in 2013, enjoy interpretive displays, refreshments and meet our dedicated staff.

We will also be taking this opportunity to officially thank our key supporters and donors, whose help and funding enables us to continue the privileged work of connecting people with nature.
