Come to our birthday party!

To celebrate 25 years of environmental education, conservation and stewardship programs in Stanley Park, SPES is hosting a birthday party and free family activities for the community at the Nature House on Lost Lagoon this Sunday, February 3 from 11 am – 3 pm.

There will be naturalist-led wildlife walks around Lost Lagoon; weavers from the Urban Weaver Project will be on hand to show participants how to weave with natural materials gathered from removed invasive plant species; the youngest can create nature crafts and cone bird feeders; and birthday cake and refreshments are served at 1 pm.

Schedule: Wildlife walks with a naturalist at 11 am, 12 am and 2 pm; nature crafts for kids from 11 am – 3 pm; learn about weaving with invasive plants from weavers with the Urban Weaver Project from 11 am – 1 pm;  and birthday cake and refreshments at 1 pm.

All events are free and take place at the Stanley Park Nature House, which is under the Lost Lagoon viewing plaza at the corner of Alberni and Chilco St.

The birthday celebration is just one of the initiatives that will happen during SPES’ 25th anniversary year. We are also hosting a photo contest in April, a large BioBlitz event in August and will work with local artists on redesigning the exterior of the Nature House this summer.
