Find us in Vancouver’s only Nature Centre, online, and in the great outdoor classroom that is Stanley Park

While the forest, beaches, wetlands and meadows are where staff and volunteers of Stanley Park Ecology Society can be found doing their conservation, research and education work, SPES does operate three distinct facilities in Stanley Park.

Nature House

SPES operates the Stanley Park Nature House on Lost Lagoon. It’s Vancouver’s only ecology centre and a gateway attraction for nature lovers. Nature House is open weekends year round and 6 days per week during the summer as a drop-in centre with many resources, artifacts and intriguing projects. This is a regular meeting place for SPES programs and outings.

The Nature House is located under the viewing plaza at the north end of Alberni Street.

SPES Office

The second and third floors of the historic Dining Pavilion overlooking the Malkin Bowl are the administrative and creative design hub for SPES. From here, we steward our volunteers, members and donors, and manage the many layers of program logistics. We have two unique classrooms here where we deliver not only a diversity of lectures, workshops and social events, and also to make available as room rentals.

The address is 610 Pipeline Road, Vancouver, BC V6G 1Z4. Please note this address is different from our mailing address.

Cob House

The third permanent structure that SPES occupies is also an attraction built on an ages-old model of earthen architecture. The Cob Popcorn House is an award-winning, whimsical yet functional model of sustainability.  Its curved wood shutters are open on its clay, straw and sand walls during summer days and throughout the evenings of October and December. Educational signage helps to tell its story even when it is not open to the public.

You’ll find the Cob House in the Miniature Railway Plaza.
