Stanley Park Events Programmer (Jun 13 – Aug 15)


SPES promotes awareness of and respect for the natural world and plays a leadership role in the stewardship of Stanley Park through collaborative initiatives in education, research and conservation.  We are seeking an energetic, creative and passionate event programmer to connect people of all ages with nature. 


  • Assist in the development, promotion and delivery of “Stanley Park’s BioBlitz 150”, a nature citizen science event
  • Assist in the development of environmental displays for the event 
  • Interact with the public, in a friendly and professional manner, at events and at the Nature House
  • Develop and maintain activities for adults and children at events and at the Nature House   
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Nature House 
  • Support recruitment, training and coordination of volunteers 
  • Communicate effectively with the Manager, co-workers and volunteers
  • Assist co-workers, scientists and partnering organizations with events and program delivery 


  • Enjoy working with people; friendly, energetic and creative
  • Strong knowledge of BC ecology
  • Excellent leadership, organization, teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to speak French fluently is an asset 
  • Willingness to work indoors and outdoors, rain or shine, as well as weekends 
  • Willingness to secure First aid certification and criminal record check 

This position is subject to a wage subsidy.  Please indicate if you meet any of the following requirements

  • Between the ages of 15 – 30 years of age
  • A recent fulltime student returning to fulltime studies in Fall 2017 
  • Member of a visible minority or aboriginal heritage may be given priority
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or under refugee protection

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Pay: $12.76 per hour, plus 4% in lieu of benefits

Start date: June 13, 2017

End date: August 15, 2017
