Nestle in for a movie night at the Stanley Park Nature House for a special viewing of “Flying Dinosaurs in the City.” Film creator and local biologist Maria Morlin shines a spotlight on the great blue herons of Vancouver, including those in the 100-nest-strong Stanley Park heronry.
Enjoy a hot drink by donation, and stick around afterwards for a Q&A with the filmmaker.
The 55-minute documentary Flying Dinosaurs in the City, filmed and produced by Maria Morlin, highlights courtship displays, nest building, fishing, voracious chicks, preening, sibling rivalry and defence behaviours of this prehistoric-looking, seasonally monogamous wading bird. The bald eagle, an important player, and its eaglets are also featured. The picturesque harbour city of Vancouver is the setting.
