Earth Day Celebration: Environmental Art Invasive Plant Weaving

April 19, 2015 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

Crochetting English ivy on fence

Join artist Sharon Kallis and SPES’ Stewardship Team in a creative and unique habitat restoration initiative!

Weave nets out of invasive English ivy that, when dried, will be returned to slopes in Stanley Park in need of erosion control and stabilization. Participants will be taught techniques in crocheting and weaving plant material and have the opportunity to learn more about the effects, challenges, and solutions of invasive species management in our forests.

For more information about this project, read about Stanley Park’s environmental art projects or check out Sharon Kallis’ website.

The event is free and will take place on the roof of the Nature House on Lost Lagoon. You can drop-in at any time between 11:00 – 4:00.
