Explore the wilds of Stanley Park by day, sleep under the stars at night. Join us in spring for our acclaimed two-day one-night outdoor camping adventure.
For grades 4-7, camps start on Tuesdays and Thursdays in April, May and June.
Urban Camping Nature Immersion is highly educational
Barnacles and bats and beavers oh my! Towering trees, succulent salmonberries and a diverse array of animals await your class in Stanley Park.
Urban Camping Nature Immersion includes four of our popular curriculum connected Park-based field trips: Forest Fundamentals, Mysteries of the Marsh, Beach Explorers and Stanley Park Survivor.
Teamwork, confidence building and practical skills abound. Students will set up their own tents, cook (and clean up) their own meals and stretch beyond their comfort levels on a guided night hike.
Check out our Urban Stewards Teacher Resource CD for a comprehensive set of units connected to BC Science curriculum and the Urban Camping Program.
Urban Camping is easy for teachers
Included in the program are tents, sleeping pads, cooking equipment, dishes and most meals. Students supply sleeping bags, personal items and lunch for the first day.
A teacher and up to 3 adult chaperones are free of charge.
Urban Camping is safe
Urban Camping has been operating safely since 1992.
Our skilled educators have first aid training, have passed criminal record checks and carry cell phones at all times.
Students camp in Mystery Meadow, a secluded campsite surrounded by tall cedars and salmonberries, with a babbling brook running through it. The site is within a large fenced enclosure, and is patrolled by a professional security guard at night.
In the event of inclement weather, a large indoor conference room with washrooms is available for group use.
Urban Camping is affordable
The program fee is $1500 for a class of up to 25 students.
